Time for some Marvel Tea reviews!
Steve Rogers- Good Golly, in the bag this tea smells like Apple Pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, no foolin’. It’s very rich and cinnamon-y with a bright burst of apple. Once steeped for about 3 minutes, the smell in the cup is much richer, and actually reminds me a bit of pumpkin pie 8O! It’s got SUCH a nice apple taste, it really does taste really fresh and perfectly spiced. I’m really happy the almond sat back and let the apple flavor take central stage. The Assam balances the whole cup very nicely, and keeps the tea from tasty overly fruity. I really don’t think it needs sugar, and adding cream and sugar brings out the almond flavors while tuning down the apple. I think I’ll enjoy it plain from now on *w*
Wolverine- fjlkajflasdf this is one of those bags that I wanted to stick my whole face into as soon as I opened it because the smell was so good. My first thought was ‘burnt caramel’, but then I made Erin smell it and after a minute she was like “IT SMELLS LIKE RAISINETTES” and yeah that’s all I smell now. WHICH IS FINE. Anyway, the story on this blend is basically that I made it special for my buddy Jackie, who is all about Wolverine and recently waxed poetic to me about Adagio’s caramel teas. So in honor of her I made this smokey caramel blend.
Right, so anyway, now that the tea’s steeped while I wrote that bit, the aroma in the cup reminds me of really good dark chocolate. It’s very complex, all at once smokey and fruity and chocolate-y thanks to the Tiger’s eye. It’s very wild. Oooooh man this is a rich tea. It’s a bit bitter, which I like, and I think coffee-drinkers will like this blend. I was worried about it being a bit too sweet with all of the caramel, and you do get the caramel flavor, but it’s soooo good. Reminds me of a Star Bucks drink or something XD;;; Another one that probably doesn’t need sugar too!Thor- Whooooah the smell of apricot is strong when you open the bag! I think I might have to dial it back a bit or something. I really wish the toasted mate was more apparent. The smell remains quite jammy even after steeping, even a little floral, and the mate is starting to bring out notes of baked goods. The smell reminds me of an apricot babka a bakery I used to work in made. But it’s not… Thor. Taste-wise, it’s pretty good. It’s a fruity tea without really tasting fruity to me, the way berry or peach teas tend to. Again, I like it, and I’ll keep drinking it, but it’s not fitting for thor, and I’m going to have to adjust it to make it much more masculine.
Loki- mintmintmintmint this is a mint tea. Which is incredibly nice and refreshing. VERY different from the rest of the teas. I might up the percentages of the other ingredients and tone the mint back. Personally though, I like mint teas quite a lot in the right conditions (they’re great for my stomach, since I have Crohn’s disease and it’s almost always sore or upset). After steeping, the Jasmine notes really start to shine and add another dimension to the scent of the tea. I really like the two flavors together, it’s very complex and refreshing for even a hot tea. I’m definitely going to try this iced as soon as possible.
